Medical review policy

Clinical content on this site is reviewed before publication by a practitioner registered with India's National Medical Commission, holding MBBS and MD qualifications. Our reviewer does not permit us to publish their name. This page explains what they check, what they do not, and how to challenge anything you read here.

Why the reviewer is not named

Registered medical practitioners in India work under professional conduct rules that restrict advertising and the solicitation of patients. A doctor's name and registration number appearing on a commercial medical travel website can reasonably be read as an endorsement of that business. Our reviewer takes that seriously, and we think they are right to.

We could put an unattributed "medically reviewed" badge on every page and leave it there. Plenty of sites do. We would rather explain the arrangement honestly and let you judge it, because a badge you cannot check is worth nothing.

What the reviewer checks

That clinical descriptions are accurate and not misleading
That risks and complications are stated, not softened
That recovery times and lengths of stay are realistic rather than optimistic
That nothing on the page could be read as medical advice, or as a recommendation to have a procedure
That no claim of cure, guaranteed outcome or success rate has crept in
That comorbidity and fitness-for-surgery issues are flagged where relevant, particularly diabetes, cardiac risk and obesity, which affect a large share of the patients we see

What falls outside their scope

Our reviewer is a physician in general and internal medicine. They are not a surgical subspecialist, and we do not present their review as specialist sign-off on oncology, neurosurgery, transplant or fertility content.

For those, specific clinical claims are sourced to published literature or to named consultants at the treating hospital, and attributed on the page. Where a question needs a subspecialist, the honest answer is that you should ask the surgeon, and we will arrange that consultation.

What review does not mean

Review is not a second opinion on your case. Nobody reviewing this website has seen your reports. Nothing here is personal medical advice, and no doctor-patient relationship is created by reading it.

Challenging a page

If you believe something here is clinically wrong or misleading, write to care@healthaford.com. We will put it to our reviewer, correct it if it is wrong, and tell you either way. Clinicians who spot errors are especially welcome to write, and we will credit the correction if you would like us to.
