How we are paid
Partner hospitals pay us a facilitation fee when a patient we introduce goes ahead with treatment. You do not pay us for that introduction, and you do not pay us for your treatment. You pay the hospital directly, into the hospital's own account.
We are telling you this on its own page, in plain language, because the most common fear people have about this industry is being quietly overcharged by a middleman. It is a reasonable fear. Here is how our arrangement removes it.
We never touch your treatment money
Your treatment is paid by you, to the hospital, directly. We do not collect it, hold it or pass it on. There is no account of ours that your surgery money moves through.
That matters for three reasons. Your money is never at risk from us. The hospital's invoice is the hospital's invoice, so you can check it against the estimate line by line. And if you decide not to proceed, there is nothing of yours for us to return.
Does the fee make your treatment more expensive?
No. The hospital pays us out of its own margin, at the rate it has already agreed with us, and it does not add our fee to your bill.
You can verify this yourself, and we would encourage you to. Ask the hospital's international patient desk directly what the same procedure costs if you walk in without us. If the answer is ever higher because of our involvement, tell us, and we will stop working with that hospital.
Does it bias which hospital we recommend?
It could, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. So here is what we do about it.
We show you two or three options every time, with what each has quoted, so that you are choosing rather than accepting. We tell you when the cheaper hospital is the better clinical choice, because sending someone to the wrong unit costs us far more in the long run than the difference in a single fee. And we will tell you when the right answer is a hospital we have no arrangement with at all. That happens, particularly with rare conditions and specialist paediatric cases.
If you ever think a recommendation of ours was driven by our fee rather than your case, say so. We would rather hear it.
What you do pay us for
Nothing, in most cases. The facilitation service, meaning quotes, hospital liaison, visa documentation, airport pickup and your case manager, is covered by the hospital's fee.
Some things we book on your behalf are your cost and are passed through at what we paid: accommodation, flights if you ask us to book them, and interpreters beyond the hospital's own provision. These appear as separate lines on your estimate, and we will show you the underlying booking if you want to see it.
